While a user is in a shared session:
- The app state properties will be synced across all users in the room.
- The following visuals will be shown for each user:
- Each user’s name will be displayed above their head.
- Their cursor position will be synced and will show their initials.
- A line is displayed to show each user’s current pointer ray.
- These visuals can be enabled/disabled from the Options/Settings page by clicking on the Avatar Visuals toggle.
The Shared Session Page
- The Shared Session Page shows the current number of active users in the room and the current room owner if any.
- The following buttons are available in the shared session page:
- Take Ownership
- This option can be used to enable the instructor/student scenario.
- When a user takes ownership of the room:
- The room owner will be the only user that can make changes to the state of the room.
- The room owner will not see avatar visuals for anyone else in the room.
- Every other user will become an observer. See: Observer Mode below.
- For more information about using room ownership, go to Room Ownership and Observer Mode.
- Enter Observer Mode
- A user will be placed in observer mode in the following 2 scenarios:
- The user clicks on the Enter Observer Mode button in the room page.
- Another user in the room takes ownership of the room.
- When in Observer Mode,
- The observer’s avatar visuals will not be visible to other users in the room.
- The observer will not be able to make changes to the state of the room.
- The observer will be able to move the body, but this will not affect the state of the room, i.e. other users in the room will not see this change. This can be thought of as the observer moving the “scene” as opposed to moving the “body” since the avatar visuals will move along with the body, in order to preserve the avatars’ placement with respect to the body.
- Observer mode allows a user to place the scene so that they have the best perspective without needing to move around the room.
- Scan Anchor
- Starts the anchor image scanning process, in order to establish the user’s app anchor.
- This does not alter the body’s position for other users in the room.
- IMPORTANT: Every user must do this in order to align the app’s coordinate system across all devices.
- Snap To Anchor
- Snaps the body back to the last anchor image that was scanned. The body position will change for all users in the room.
- Leave Room
- Exit the current room. The app state will no longer be synced with the room’s users.
