1.8.3.0
*Updated with new Magic Leap release.*
New Features
HoloLens 2
Far interaction:
When hands are present, the gaze pointer is replaced with hand pointers.
Select Gesture
The previous interactions with the “select” gesture remain the same.
When dragging a part, the part rotates along with the hand.
Two hands can be used to drag the same part which enables two-handed manipulation (translation, rotation and scale).
NOTE: dragging two different parts with far interaction is not allowed currently.
Grab Gesture (new gesture!)
To perform this gesture, begin with your hand open with the thumb pointing toward the ceiling. Then, close your hand to form a fist without rotating your wrist.
Perform the grab gesture while pointing at the body, to move the body.
Perform the grab gesture with two hands to rotate and scale the body as well.
Near interaction:
Near interaction is activated when the hand is close enough to an anatomy part. This is indicated by the hand pointer ray disappearing.
There’s no difference between the Select and Grab gestures.
When close enough to an anatomy part, the part will highlight and a select or grab gesture can be used to move and rotate the part. Grabbing the part with two hands allows for the part to be moved, rotated and scaled.
Note that two different parts can be dragged with near interaction.
HoloLens 1
When dragging, parts can be rotated and scaled:
With only one hand in view, begin dragging an anatomy part.
Bring up the second hand and press down.
Two-handed manipulation is now active on that part.
Note: that two-handed manipulation can still be used to move the body, but both hands must be in view before pressing down.
Magic Leap
Anatomy part manipulation now supports rotating and scaling on individual parts. This can be done in a few ways:
While manipulating a part (in near or far interaction), move and rotate the controller to move and rotate the part.
While manipulating a part (in near or far interaction), use the touchpad to rotate and scale the part. Rotation is available on the x-axis of the touchpad, and scaling is available on the y-axis. This is the same as for rotating and scaling the whole body.
If a second controller is available, while both are manipulating a single part, move the controllers apart/together to scale.
Far interaction:
Use the touchpad without pressing the bumper or trigger to rotate/scale the body.
Press the bumper while focusing on the any part of the body to move the body.
Press the trigger on a part to interact with the part. Drag the part to begin manipulation and use the touchpad to rotate/scale.
Near interaction:
Near interaction is activated when the controller is close enough to an anatomy part. This is indicated by the pointer ray disappearing.
There’s no difference between the Trigger and Bumper.
When close enough to an anatomy part, the part will highlight and a press and hold on the trigger or bumper can be used to move and rotate the part. Use the touchpad to rotate and scale the part. Rotation with the touchpad is performed around the y-axis of the controller. Grabbing the part with two controllers allows for the part to be moved, rotated and scaled as well.
Quiz-related Fixes and Improvements
Implementing Exit Quiz functionality. Click the X icon on the top-right corner of the question page to exit a quiz. The progress will be saved except for any changes to the current question.
Improving pointer arrow functionality. The arrow now follows the anatomy part immediately.
Miscellaneous Improvements
Making labels bigger.
Restricting part and body scaling (both a minimum and maximum scale).
Bug Fixes
Fixed an issue with manipulation in HoloLens 1, where the body would fly off or become very small.
Ongoing Features
When both hands are focused on the same part, two labels with the same part name will be shown.
Label placement isn’t ideal when using near interaction.
Known Issues
While in quiz edit mode, selecting an answer to a question will cause certain settings, (specifically, the multiple choice answers) to no longer be editable.
To continue to edit, delete all quiz attempts associated with the quiz.
Pin placement drifts from the original position when scaling a part.
During Sharing, if 2 users try to grab the same part at the same time, the part will get into a bad state.
